Chain work for the Zoutdam
Custom Chain Work for the Zoutdam IJmuiden
During the construction of the Zoutdam in IJmuiden, an essential project to prevent salinization of the North Sea Canal, we proudly contributed a small but significant part. Our expertise in providing custom chain work played an important role in the successful installation of floating frames at the quay, allowing ships to dock safely.
Our Contribution: Chain Work for Floating Frames
We equipped the floating frames, which act as spacers between the quay and the ships, with high-quality chain work. This chain work ensures that the floating frames remain securely in place, regardless of weather conditions or water movement. This is a perfect example of how we can deliver custom solutions that meet the specific requirements of our clients and the unique circumstances of a project.
What is the Zoutdam?
The Zoutdam is an impressive structure designed to prevent saltwater from the North Sea from flowing into the North Sea Canal. Such intrusion would have harmful effects on the environment, agriculture, and drinking water supply in the region. The Zoutdam ensures that saltwater flows back to the sea through the sluice and pumping station complex, while freshwater remains separated. The dam consists of gigantic 27-meter-high pillars, concrete walls, and fish passages that ensure the migration of fish. The installation of these massive structures, including the concrete pillars and walls, is a complex process that requires precision and accuracy.
